D.I.Y Honey Rose Soap – Exfoliating & Moisturizing
Shower gels, cleansing bars, shampoo and toiletries used daily may contain harsh chemicals, eg: SLS, SLE and Detergent which are harmful to our skin. Prolong use of such detergents on a daily basis could result in skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and dry skin.
If you are worried, consider making your own shower cleansing bar FREE of harsh chemicals.
Making this Honey Rose Soap along with the rose essential oil, Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base would make for a wonderfully giftable combination. It is also a great way to make a variety of homemade bath products while not having to buy too many entirely different ingredients.
- Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base x 1kg
- Goat’s Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base X 500g
- 2 table spoon Manuka Honey ( Optional)
- Rose absolute/ Rose essential oil 30ml (depends on scents Strength you like)
- Rose Petal (Optional)
- Mica/ Pigments (Optional)eg: Gold 24 Karat Sparkle Mica Powder, Pink Sparkle Mica Powder, White Sparkle Mica Powder, Ruby Red Pigment
Today we are going to make the soap in 2 different layers – one Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base (Clear) layer and one goat’s milk soap layer. So, we will melt and pour the Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base layer first.
Cut the Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base into small cubes and place them in microwave safe glass measuring cup. Or you can do double boiler method.
Place the Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base in the microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between each interval. (you will need at least 3 – 4 times) depending on how full your cup is of soap. Just be sure the soap is completely melted.
Or use double boiler (our soap base melting point is 50°C to 55°C, do not exceed 60°C), stirring between bursts, until the base has fully melted.
Then add 20 to 30 drops of Rose absolute/ Rose essential oil and stir well.
If you want a splash of gold mica on the top of your entire soaps🙂 then you need to sprinkle the gold mica powder in your soap mold before you pour in your soap. Try to sprinkle the mica powder out evenly onto your mold.
Once your soap mold cavities are powdered, then you can fill each cavity half way with the melted Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base , poured the soap directly in the middle and that will disrupt your gold powder and create a gap.
After you pour the Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base you can grab a toothpick or skewer and swirl the soap, which will also stir up the gold powder a bit as well. You can experiment with this depending on the look you want for the top layer of soap.
Spray a layer of ethanol to make the surface evenly to get ride of the bubbles.
Probably wait about 5 to 10 minutes for the soap to cool and you can then move the soap around a bit to create this texture. This will help the goat’s milk layer to stick better when you pour that in next.
While you are waiting for the Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base layer to cool and texture, you can start heating up the goat’s milk soap in 30 second intervals in the microwave. Again, stir each time in between and microwave it until it’s fully melted – about 1 1/2 minute to 2 minutes.
Add another 20 to 30 drops of Rose Absolute essential oil and 2 heaping mini scoops of Pink Sparkle Mica Powder/ Ruby Red Pigment and stir well until you get a smooth pinkish/ light reddish color.
Be sure the Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base layer is cool and solid enough so that when you pour in the Goat’s Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base layer, it won’t pour into a liquefied Honey Melt and Pour Soap Base layer. Fill the rest of the soap mold cavities with the goat’s milk soap layer.
After pouring, you can give it a quick spray of ethanol and the bubbles disappear. This ensures a nice smooth bottom to your soap and allow to harden before attempting to pop them out of the mold.
