Citric Acid (Natural & Coarse )
Citric Acid from citrus fruits is commonly used in cosmetic formulas to create a more balanced and neutralized pH while providing skin softening properties to products. It is an alpha hydroxy acid widely used in personal care products to adjust the acidity or promote skin peeling and re-growth in the case of anti-aging products. When mixed in appropriate amounts with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), it produces a chemical reaction that leads to the fizz in bath fizzies. Our citric acid are considered food grade.
Points of Interest:
Citric acid is used with sodium bicarbonate in a wide range of effervescent formula, both for ingestion (e.g. powders and tablets) and for personal care (e.g., bath salts, bath bombs, descaler and cleaning of grease). This weak acid has been used as an additive in processed foods for more than 100 years as a preservative, a sour flavoring, or an emulsifying agent. Because of its effective preservative properties, citric acid can be found in most canned and jarred foods to prevent botulism.
